The launch of the book Valdevez Medieval – Documents III – Lisbon Archives (1480–1518) will take place on 20 November, at 6:00 p.m., in the Casa das Artes de Arcos de Valdevez. The work is coordinated by Amélia Aguiar Andrade, Luís Krus (†) and João Luís Fontes, and includes transcriptions by Filipa Silva, João Luís Fontes and Filipa Lopes.

Published by the Municipality of Arcos de Valdevez, this third volume of the Valdevez Medieval – Documents collection brings together the charters preserved in the Lisbon archives between 1480 and 1518, that is, between the beginning of the reign of King João II and the issuance, by his successor, of the charter granting Valdevez the status of town (vila). It thus continues an editorial project that began in 1999, with the publication of a bibliographical guide and two volumes of documentation relating to the territory of the medieval julgado of Valdevez, then under the coordination of Luís Krus and Amélia Aguiar Andrade.

The volume now presented resumes and completes the collection undertaken during Luís Krus’ lifetime, comprising a total of 186 documents, to which 45 new charters have been added, updating the corpus published in the previous two volumes.

The book launch takes place within the framework of the 7th Congress on the Noble House, held in Arcos de Valdevez from 20 to 22 November.
