Medievalista invites researchers to submit a subject proposal for issue 43, covering the January-June 2028 semester. We welcome proposals that explore themes related to medieval studies, encouraging innovative, multidisciplinary perspectives that ensure both thematic and geographical breadth, and that promote inclusive engagement with different contexts and realities. The proposal should have between 6 to 8 original articles, each of which must comply with the submission guidelines outlined at: https://revistas.fcsh.unl.pt/medievalista/red.
Proposals will be assessed based on their scientific relevance, internal coherence, and potential for international impact. Gender balance among contributors is also encouraged, although this is not a limiting factor in the selection process, which will primarily consider the scientific quality and coherence of the submission.
Proposals should be submitted to medievalista@fcsh.unl.pt by June 30th, 2026 and must include the following:
A. Title of the thematic dossier
B. Identification of the scientific coordinators, including indication of institutional affiliations and CV
C. Justification of the proposal’s scientific relevance, internal coherence among the articles, and the overall significance of the thematical issue for advancing the understanding of the chosen topic (approx. 5,000 characters)
D. Titles, abstracts, and author identification for each of the articles included in the proposal (maximum of 1,000 characters per contribution)
All submissions will be evaluated by the journal’s editorial board, which will oversee their publication on 2028 January 1st, in close contact with the scientific coordinators. Notification of the evaluation results will be communicated by the end of September 2026. Please note: Proposals not accepted will not be retained for future consideration, unless explicitly stated otherwise. However, they may be resubmitted in response to a future call issued by the journal.
Following acceptance, the journal will set a final deadline for submission of the full articles. It is the responsibility of the dossiers coordinators to ensure timely the delivery of all the contributions. Each article will undergo the same double-blind peer review process as any other original submission sent to the journal.
