IEM researcher Miguel Metelo de Seixas was incorporated into the Interinstitutional Program “El Mundo Atlántico en la Modernidad Temprana” which is based at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina.

This Program focuses on the “History of the Atlantic, proposing a broader scale of analysis for the study of connections, the mobility of ideas and people, to which must be added the ability to observe the driving vehicle of this connection between America, Africa, Europe and the East, which is the ship and, within it, its technical and human composition.”

With Miguel Metelo de Seixas’ inclusion, which was broadcast here, NOVA University Lisbon is now part of a vibrant network of 22 universities spanning Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Portugal, and Uruguay. This expansion strengthens our institutional relationships and underscores our shared commitment to advancing the study of the Atlantic.

Miguel Metelo de Seixas was also invited to direct, together with his Argentine colleague Lucas Andrés Masán, the next volume of the Hismundi collection, which will be dedicated to using images in a colonial and post-colonial context.
