ROSSIO Infrastructure

The ROSSIO Infrastructure is a consortium of cultural and educational institutions coordinated by the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa and other relevant institutional members. Together, they provide diverse sources and resources that reflect the history, society, and cultural heritage of Portuguese-speaking communities.

The central mission of the ROSSIO Infrastructure is to gather, organize, interconnect, contextualize, enrich, and disseminate a unique collection of digital content related to the social sciences and humanities (SSH). This content, originating from research activities, repositories, archives, libraries, art collections, and databases, is not only a valuable resource for academics but also holds great potential for inspiring and fueling the cultural and creative industries.

The ROSSIO Infrastructure seeks to become a reference in SSH, offering unique and diversified digital content and contributing to the excellence, innovation, and internationalization of Portuguese science and Portuguese-speaking cultural heritage.

In Portuguese, Rossio refers to a wide space where several paths meet. It is a place where people gather to live, discuss, trade, take part in cultural events, and express their civic and political identity. Rossio is a quintessential public space.

In the spirit of Rossio, the ROSSIO infrastructure serves as a hub for convergence and growth. It is a platform where not only researchers, teachers, and students, but also the general population, can easily and intuitively access SSH content. This access opens doors to new knowledge and skills, sparking personal growth and new accomplishments.
