On April 22nd, researcher Filipa Lopes participated in the @Scientist returns to School program. She held two workshops at the primary school in the community where she grew up and studied in the first cycle (Bagunte, Vila do Conde). She explained to the third —and fourth-year children what historians do and led them to discover what family archives are.

Filipa Lopes implemented the workshops with the support of Native Scientists, the Union of Parishes of Bagunte, Ferreiró, Outeiro Maior, and Parada, and the Belmiro de Azevedo Foundation.

About the Program:

The Scientist returns to school program is a platform that encourages scientists to revisit their primary schools and conduct science workshops. Its key objectives are to broaden children’s perspectives, foster scientific literacy and interest in higher education, and challenge stereotypes associated with science and scientists.
