Between July 18, 2024, and May 8, 2025, IEM will be the first of a cycle of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) under the theme “Olhares Cruzados sobre a Idade Média” in partnership with the NAU platform.

To deconstruct misconceptions and anachronisms about the Middle Ages, replacing them with updated content and certified interpretations of medieval themes, the first MOOC to be made available focuses on “Portugal na Idade Média: um reino com municípios democráticos e sem cidades?“.

With a total duration of 15 hours, at the trainee’s pace, these sessions promise to deconstruct “the misconceptions about the political organization of municipal communities and the medieval Portuguese urban world.”

This course was scientifically coordinated by IEM researchers Adelaide Millán da Costa and Gonçalo Melo da Silva, who gave NAU an interview about this course.

This MOOC will be available, free of charge, to the general public.
