The 5th edition of the Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus is meant for researchers with PhDs that wish to join the work being developed in Portuguese research centers financed by the FCT. The submission period will last from February 3rd to March 3rd 2022 (5 pm. – Lisbon time). 

As a Research Unit sponsored by the FCT, the Institute for Medieval Studies (IEM) of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities of Universidade Nova de Lisboa (NOVA FCSH) accepts applications of candidates who wish to submit their projects having the IEM as host Institution.  

All those interested should contact the IEM-NOVA FCSH, until February 9th, by email, to iem.geral@fcsh.unl.pt, informing the Institute of their intention to apply. Such pre-application to the Institute’s board should be sent with a CV and an initial a draft of the Project they wish to submit, in no more than two pages. 

The IEM’s Board of directors will then analyze the applications before accepting to act as host Institution and will notify the candidates of the acceptance or refusal of their proposals. Further to this first acceptance, the applicants will receive feedback on their projects, as well as advice and support for the completion and submission of the research project proposal to the National Funding Board.  

The “Concorrer ao Estímulo Individual FCT” workshop will take place on the 25th February. Here, the accepted candidates will have the possibility of attending a session where the general guidelines of successful applications will be revised and where they will present their projects and receive feedback and advice from senior researchers of the IEM with experience in assessing similar projects. 

Between January and February NOVA FCSH will host several tuition sessions, among which Grant writing for individual submissions; CIENCIAVITAE; Tips on how to successfully apply to an Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus; Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus guidelines; General topics: Open Science; Gender and Ethics in the applications. These initiatives are open for every IEM candidate, and the mandatory enrollment is available here
