Within the framework of the publication of new documents from the parliamentary sessions held during the Reign of King Afonso IV, a project sponsored by the Institute of Medieval Studies in partnership with the Centre for Historical Studies, dozens of new documents have been identified for transcription. One case, a list of grievances presented by the town of Silves in 1352, is only in very poor condition, with the ink delaminated by the passage of time, requiring recourse to an ultra-violet lamp in a darkroom environment to provide a contrast capable of making the words more legible. This requires the wearing of special protective glasses during the work that took place in the Conservation and Restoration Room at the Torre do Tombo archive.
This work was carried out by the researcher Pedro Pinto, contracted to transcribe the documentation of the late medieval courts in order to complete the A. H. de Oliveira Marques Digital Library.
