12 years after the foundation of the CIGA Group and 20 years after the publication of «Portugal Musulman» by Christophe Picard, these conferences aim to re-launch the debate on the studies of the Islamic period in Portugal. At the indispensable crossroads between Archaeology and History, it is important to take into consideration the scope of the archaeological outputs of the last two decades and their contributions to the knowledge on the evolution of the territory, whether at the level of landscape, settlement, organisation of spaces of power and domestic spaces, in urban or rural environments. Between the much that has been done and the little that is still known, bridges must be built on the basis of systematisations, methodological research, dialogue and interdisciplinary sharing.
