On International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, a new edition of the “Women in Science” book will be presented in a ceremony at the Pavilion of Knowledge attended by Manuel Heitor, Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education.
With over a hundred portraits and testimonies from women scientists, this new edition will include, in the History area, the portrait and testimony of Professor Maria de Lurdes Rosa, an integrated researcher of the Institute of Medieval Studies (IEM) and lecturer at the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, NOVA University (NOVA FCSH), here photographed by Augusto Brázio.
The publication is a Ciência Viva tribute to Portuguese women scientists, who represent 45% of all researchers in Portugal, and whose remarkable work has been fundamental for the progress that Portuguese science and technology have registered in the last decades.
The photographs of the new honourees will then be available online, along with the honourees from previous years, here. To see Maria de Lurdes Rosa’s photo and testimony, click here.
