Serafim da Rocha Cabral

Currently undertaking a MA degree in History with specialization in Medieval History at the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa. I finished the curricular component with the classification 18/20.  

I completed my first MA degree in 2021 in Arabic and Hebrew Culture: al-Andalus and the Contemporary Arab World, at the Faculdade Filosofía y Letras of Universidad de Granada with a final classification of 9.6/10 with the completion of the final master’s work The andalusī intellectuals in the crisis of the Almohad Caliphate: an approach to their reactions and their fates (1225-1269) classified with Sobresaliente 9.5/10.  

I completed my graduation in History in 2018 at Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa with the final classification of 15/20. 

I have advanced language skills (C1) in English and Spanish, and intermediate Arabic (B1) and French (A2). 

I participated in the Autumn School of Medieval Studies of 2022 where I presented a poster concerning my current research. I represented the Universidade Nova de Lisboa by participating in the 6th International University Debate Championship QatarDebate 2022 in Arabic in Istanbul. I had a scholarship of the IEM-FCT in 2022 whereby I conducted a three-month research stay in Granada.  

I published three chapters in books, one of which individually and two collective chapters. My research areas are the history of the Almohad Caliphate, the andalusī intellectuals and ulama of s. XII-XIII and the relations of these intellectuals with political entities in Western Islam.
