The Institute for Medieval Studies, in partnership with the Torre do Tombo and more than a dozen other institutions, including universities, municipalities and other cultural entities, is promoting an exhibition that aims to evoke the figure of José Mattoso and his truly seminal contribution, both in the way of understanding and making History and in the valorization and promotion of archives and the documentary heritage associated with them.

The proposed itinerary, based on some of the most significant testimonies of the Portuguese medieval past and the documentary heritage left by José Mattoso or related to his work at the head of the Torre do Tombo, allows contact with some of the areas and themes that he focused on in his research or with the initiatives that ended up shaping, in a lasting way, the structuring of renewed policies for the management and valorization of archives.

Hosted by the National Archives – Torre do Tombo, the exhibition is scheduled to open on April 22nd at 5 pm and will be on display until June 17th.
