This project consists of carrying out a diachronic analysis of the rural territory of the municipality of Castelo de Vide with a view to creating a New Archaeological Charter. It is a project to be carried out by researchers from the Institute of Medieval Studies (IEM – NOVA FCSH), in collaboration with the Castelo de Vide City Council, in particular the Archaeology Section (SACMCV). Drawing up an Archaeological Map from the current scientific and heritage perspective has a twofold interrelated component: on the one hand, knowledge of the anthropization of the territory under study, enabling a better understanding of the evolution of the physical space and the strategies for occupying and exploiting it over the course of different historical periods; on the other hand, the systematic recording of the evidence that this occupation has left behind, which archaeological methodology enables to be identified and recognized, forming an active tool for managing the territory.

With the aim of bringing the local population closer to the ongoing research, two talks will be given on the project, presenting the team, the objectives and working methodologies, as well as the latest news on the archaeological heritage of this territory.
