On September 19, 2025, the International Workshop: Methodologies in Comparison, 10 Years Later. The Archaeological Methodology for the Study of Illuminated Manuscripts will take place. This event marks the 10th anniversary of the Workshop The Study of Illuminated Manuscripts and Artefacts in Medieval Archaeology: Methodologies in Comparison.
The aim is to demonstrate how archaeological sciences and their methodologies can significantly contribute to the study of manuscripts, providing new and crucial insights that often go beyond the scope of traditional approaches in art history, artistic studies, paleography, and codicology. By integrating different disciplines, we seek to open new perspectives and foster a fruitful dialogue between archaeology, history, art history, conservation, and other fields, enhancing our understanding of these valuable testimonies of the past.
Speakers:
Stefanos Kroustallis (Escuela superior de conservación y restauración de bienes culturales)
Jordina Sales-Carbonell (Universitat de Barcelona)
Matthew Collins (Kobenhavns Universitet, Denmark)
