The 1st session of Medieval 2025 will be on March 26th at Colégio Almada Negreiros (room to be indicated).

This year, the Medieval sessions will be framed under the ‘Media’ Age: Medieval Studies and Digital Humanities theme.

Historical tradition and technological innovation have interacted very well, opening up new possibilities for research, teaching and dissemination of history and cultural heritage. In this context, the question arises: how do Digital Humanities reinforce interdisciplinarity and promote networking, connecting us all in understanding the medieval period?

The IEM strategic plan for 2025-2029, under the motto The Middle Ages in Action, has among its main objectives the promotion of innovative, multi- and transdisciplinary, integrated and inclusive research, as well as the sharing of knowledge, ensuring universal accessibility data, methods and research results.

In line with this plan, we intend to organize a set of activities in the 2025-2026 biennium to take stock of how Digital Humanities are being applied to studying documents, objects, architecture and medieval landscapes.
