The first IEM Conference of 2024 is scheduled for March 19th at 3 pm, in mixed mode (in-person and online). In person, you can participate at Colégio Almada Negreiros, Room SE1 (Floor 0).

The conference will be led by Professor Margarita Fernández Mier from the University of Oviedo, who will focus on the topic of “Pastos comunales y lugares de reunión en la Edad Media a través de la Arqueología”

Professor Margarita Fernández Mier is a specialist in medieval agrarian history and archaeology. As a leading European researcher on this topic, her work is based on written and archaeological documentation and long-term analysis. She primarily focuses on medieval agrarian history and the formation of village territories, as well as the various actors that intervene in constructing the rural landscape, particularly in mountain territories.

Professor Mier has directed several research projects related to these themes. She is also the principal investigator of the LLABOR research group and works on agrarian and public archeology in Spain and Latin America. She is also known for her work with the communities where she conducts her research. She directly involves them in research activities and returns the knowledge she acquires to the population of all ages.
