The goal of these Meetings is to create a gathering place for the lead researchers on rural archaeology; an opportunity to debate the state of the research, incorporate and discuss new data and to reflect on future common strategies.

The 2019 EMCAM edition will take place at Castelo de Vide (Alentejo, Portugal) during May, 2-4, 2019 and it will be hosted by the Municipality of Castelo de Vide and the Institute for Medieval Studies of NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities – Universidade Nova de Lisboa  (IEM-NOVA FCSH).

During Thursday and Friday there will be conference presentations, debates and a poster session. The Meetings conferences languages are English, Portuguese and Spanish.

During Saturday there will be a study trip to a selection of local early medieval archaeological sites.

Call for posters:
We welcome all researchers who wish to share their work to submit posters addressing the Meeting debate topics. During the Poster Session, authors will have the chance to briefly present their work. The Poster Session will be a great opportunity to gain feedback and interact with other researchers and archaeologists in an informal way.
