The candidates must have completed a PhD in one of the areas of Medieval Studies (History/Archaeology/Art History/Literature) within the last three years. The work must have been  hosted u+in a research institution other than the Institute for Medieval Studies (IEM-NOVA FCSH). 

The research project, to be funded by the RU FCT Programmatic Funding, will be sponsored up to a maximum period of 36 months and should be in accordance with the Strategic Programme of the IEM – NOVA FCSH (section 14.2)

Therefore, in addition to the other elements required in the edital, the candidates are kindly requested to present a research project and respective work plan in one of the following areas of study: 

  1. Medieval Lisbon; 
  1. The Sea and Maritime Cities; 
  1. Religious and/or Military Architecture in the Portuguese Middle Ages; 
  1. Jewish Studies: Portugal
