About the author:
David Porrinas González, with a PhD from Universidad de Extremadura: is a specialist in Medieval History. His doctoral thesis, entitled Guerra y caballería en la plena Edad Media: condicionantes y actitudes bélicas. Castilla y León, siglos XI al XIII, was awarded the Extraordinary Doctoral Degree Prize of the Universidad de Extremadura in 2015. In 2005, he was awarded the Medievalism Prize by the Sociedad Española de Estudios Medievales for his study on medieval warfare and chivalry. An expert on war and chivalry related issues in the Middle Ages and Rodrigo Díaz, Cid Campeador, he coordinated the book Poniente medieval: La Edad Media en la fantasía épica de Juego de Tronos (Madrid, La Ergástula, 2019) and published El Cid: historia y mito de un señor de la guerra (Desperta Ferro Ediciones, 2019), as well as numerous articles and book chapters in various scientific publications. He is currently a professor at the Facultad de Formación del Profesorado (Cáceres Campus) of the Universidad de Extremadura.
