The fourth session of the Cycle of Conferences: Manuscritos de Alcobaça will take place on June 23, and will feature a conference by Catarina Fernandes Barreira and Luís Miguel Rêpas.

The conference will focus on an illuminated manuscript, almost unpublished, a Ritual of anointing and burial from the end of the 15th century or beginning of the next century, produced for the abbey of Santa Maria de Alcobaça, but that ended up being part of the library of the abbey of Santa Maria de Salzedas. The manuscript’s content is quite interesting from a liturgical point of view, especially when put into context with earlier and coeval codices produced in the scriptorium, and allows us to reconstruct a procession on the anniversary of the dead in the spaces of the Alcobaça Monastery.
