We are pleased to announce the publication of the Medieval Europe in Motion book “La circulación de manuscritos iluminados en la Península Ibérica”. This new book brings together the scientific results presented at the second edition of the International Congress Medieval Europe in Motion, periodically organised by the Institute of Medieval Studies, the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, NOVA University (IEM-NOVA FCSH).

The second edition of this international meeting, held in 2015, was organised in cooperation with the “Red Temática de Investigación Cooperativa sobre Arte Tardogótico” and with the Instituto de Estudios Medievales of the University of León, with the aim of delving into the consequences of the circulation of people, objects and ideas throughout the medieval West. On this occasion, it focused on the world of books and the different approaches to illuminated manuscripts on the Iberian Peninsula in order to raise awareness about the state-of-the-art and open up new paths for future research.

The now published volume, under the scientific curatorship of Alicia Miguélez Cavero and Fernando Villaseñor Sebastián, brings together twenty texts by specialists from Portugal, Spain, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Germany and Japan, divided into three major blocks that, from the general to the particular, convey the European panorama of the period (“Medieval Europe in Motion”); the interrelationship between books produced in Iberia and those from other European territories (“Europe and Iberia in Motion”); and the processes and agents involved in the production and dissemination of books (“Producing Manuscripts in medieval Iberia”).
