The Alberto Sampaio History Prize, a joint institution of the Braga, Guimarães and Vila Nova de Famalicão Municipalities and the Martins Sarmento Society, under the scientific supervision of and organised by the Lisbon Academy of Sciences, was this year awarded to the work “Peoples of the North in their own voices. Family records from the Guimarães-Oporto region, 15th-17th centuries”, by Alice Borges Gago, an integrated researcher at the Institute of Medieval Studies, the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, NOVA University.

The delivery of the Alberto Sampaio 2020 History Prize took place at the Academy of Sciences, in Lisbon, on January 14, 2020, in the presence of the Prize Jury President, Professor José Luís Cardoso, in a restricted attendance ceremony due to the Covid pandemic.
