Ph.D in Medieval Studies
The School of Social Sciences and Humanities of NOVA University and Universidade Aberta have joined forces in a joint project to provide an e-learning PhD Program in Medieval Studies, incorporating a brief face-to-face component.
In this Program, interdisciplinary training assumes a central role, integrating the following fields of study: Medieval Archaeology, Medieval Art, Medieval History, Medieval Literature and Medieval Music. The PhD thesis will be developed in two differentiated areas of specialisation.
The course is taught according to Universidade Aberta's (internationally recognised) pedagogic model and complemented by a one-week face-to-face doctoral retreat. During this period, students enter into contact with the program's professors and international specialists and also take part in a short postgraduate studies conference designed to foster their integration into the professional academic environment.
Several partnerships have been established with Spanish universities in which, under the scope of ERASMUS+, doctoral students gain the opportunity to attend seminars and complement their training.
