The IS-LE : Islamic Legacy – Narratives East, West, South, North of the Mediterranean (1350-1750) project is among the recipients of the 2025 Europa Nostra Awards, in the Research category.
The project was developed between 2019 and 2023 and funded by the European Union through COST-European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST Action CA18129). The Action’s goal was to provide a transnational and interdisciplinary approach capable of overcoming the fragmentation that has traditionally characterized the study of relations between Christianity and Islam in Europe and the Mediterranean.
Thus, the project fostered the creation of a research network that worked together on three main research themes: alterity, migration, and borders. The project involved scholars from over forty countries and included the participation of IEM researcher Alicia Miguélez, who served as the project’s Vice-Chair.
