The SOCLOC International Seminar: “Practices, meanings, and uses of material culture in local societies. The consumption of ceramics in southwest Europe”, will take place on June 6th and 7th at Colégio Almada Negreiros, room 209 (2nd Floor), Lisbon.

The seminar is organized within the scope of the research project SOCLOC – “Iberian local societies in the Early medieval European context: Settings, Practices and Territorialities (5th-12th centuries)” (University of the Basque Country) in collaboration with IEM.

The seminar’s main objective is to study behaviors, practices, and uses of cultural materials, considering local societies from a conceptual and operational perspective. The program features a panel of international researchers presenting different approaches to ceramic materials covering a chronological spectrum from Protohistory to the Modern Age, with special emphasis on the medieval centuries.

The seminar will only take place in person and is open to attendees.
