On May 3, 2024, at noon, in Amphitheater 3, in tower B of FCSH (Avenida de Berna, 26 C), an open class will take place on the theme “Abd-al Mumin e o Movimento almóada”, offered by Professor Maribel Fierro, currently one of the most prominent experts on the Almohad world and al-Andalus from these extraordinary centuries.
Regardless of your background or level of knowledge, everyone is warmly welcomed to this open class!
Dr. Maribel Fierro is a researcher in Middle Eastern Studies in the Humanities section of the National Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) in Madrid, Spain.
Her research has focused on the intellectual history of the Islamic West (8th to 15th centuries), with particular attention to Law, Religion, Historiography, and Political Thought of the Almohad period. He is also interested in political history, representations of violence, forgery, and gender studies.
Professor Maribel Fierro brings a wealth of academic experience to this open class. In addition to her career at CSIC, she has been a visiting professor at prestigious institutions such as the University of Chicago Divinity School, the School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences in Paris, and the Institute for Advanced Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In 2020, she was elected to the American Philosophical Society.
