As part of the commemorative ceremonies of the Portuguese Army, the launch of the book To Arms! Heraldry of the Portuguese Army, authored by researcher Miguel Metelo de Seixas and master designer José Estevéns Colaço, will take place on October 24 at 2:30 PM in the noble hall of the Coimbra City Hall.

Published by Editora Cultura with the sponsorship of the Army General Staff, this book offers a reflection on the connection between heraldry and warfare from a diachronic perspective, spanning from the Middle Ages to the present day. It then focuses on the description and symbolic characterization of the arms of all current establishments and units of the Portuguese Army. The book also includes a historical chronology of the office responsible for developing military heraldry, as well as two auxiliary tools for the reader: a summary of the science of coats of arms and a heraldic glossary, complemented by an extensive bibliography.
