The Niballo Palio di Faenza arrives in Lisbon!

The Niballo Palio di Faenza is one of Italy’s most exciting historical events, reviving Faenza’s ancient medieval traditions. For more than 67 years, this equestrian tournament, held on the fourth Sunday of June, has transformed the city into a true journey to the 15th century. The five neighbourhoods of Faenza compete in horse races and spear-throwing in a unique spectacle, always preceded by a majestic historical parade with more than 500 extras, including the iconic Bandeirantes and musicians.

On October 4, 2024, Lisbon will have the unique opportunity to experience a bit of this tradition. From 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, at the main entrance of Colégio Almada Negreiros (CAN), with free entry, the Bandeirantes and Musicians of Faenza will bring their impressive choreographies and the striking sound of drums in an individual and group performance. In addition to the show, the public will experience the ancient art of flag and drum up close.

Room SE1 will host a lecture at 11 a.m. before the performance dedicated to the history and memory of the Palio de Faenza.
