About the digital collection
The Damião de Góis Collection results from the online publication of the indexes of the Leitura Nova by the Institute of Medieval Studies, with the permission of the National Archives of Torre does Tombo (ANTT), legal depositary of the collection of the Damião de Góis Study Center.
The indexes were elaborated between 1992 and 1999, under the coordination of Prof. Dr. João Alves Dias and within the scope of the Comissão Nacional dos Descobrimentos Portugueses/ Centro de Estudos Damião de Góis.
The availability of these resources is part of the goal of creating and disseminating digital tools to support the development of research on the medieval period.
The indexes of the Leitura Nova are organized as a chronological index, book index, document summary index, and analytical index.
Note: Despite extensive research, carried out with the support of Dr. Pedro Pinto and the collaboration of the ANTT and Prof. João Alves Dias, persons, and entities to whom we are grateful, it was not possible to gather copies of all indexes made.
