Based on two symposia held in 2014 – one at the Portuguese Monastery of Batalha, the other at the French Abbey of Brou – the book, DEVISES, LETTRES, CHIFFRES ET COULEURS: UN CODE EMBLÉMATIQUE, 1350-1550, brings together 22 articles on the theme of emblematic late medieval art by German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese and Portuguese researchers. Given the current lack of books dedicated to this theme, the present volume aims to fill this gap by proposing an intersecting approach between history and art history. The volume, which is supervised by Laurent Hablot, Miguel Metelo de Seixas and Matteo Ferrari, also result from the collaboration between the Institute of Medieval Studies (NOVA University) and the École Pratique des Hautes Études (Paris). This presentation, taking place on 12th October at 5pm (Lisbon time), will be made by José María de Francisco Olmos.
