The seventh edition of the Individual Scientific Employment Incentive Competition (CEEC) of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) opened on September 30. It aims to finance contracts for PhD researchers in all scientific areas.

This Individual Call is aimed at doctorates of any nationality or stateless persons with a career in any scientific area who wish to develop their scientific research or technological development activity in Portugal, integrated into R&D units financed by the FCT.

The call will be open until November 29, 2024, closing at 5:00 pm (Lisbon time).

Within the scope of this Scientific Employment Incentive competition, IEM agrees to welcome candidates for the two categories of researchers foreseen in the competition (junior and assistant). These applications must fit within the Institute’s Strategic Project, and IEM will pre-select the projects presented to guarantee this framework.

Candidates interested in applying with the IEM as host IU must contact IEM-NOVA FCSH by email at iem.geral@fcsh.unl.pt by October 20th, expressing their intention to compete and sending their CV and the first project idea to be presented (up to 2 pages), with the following information:

  • Title
  • Objectives
  • Description
  • Outputs
  • Knowledge transfer

Following this first acceptance of the proposal, candidates will receive feedback on their projects and the necessary advice and support for submitting research projects to FCT.

IEM will organize the session “Competition for the FCT Individual Stimulus” (with a date to be defined), an internal initiative primarily dedicated to the presentation and debate of projects accepted as candidates. As in previous sessions, senior researchers and successful IEM researchers in other editions of this call will collaborate in this initiative, helping candidates build successful applications.

At the same time, and as in previous years, NOVA FCSH will provide its candidates with several clarification sessions. All IEM candidates will be able to participate in these actions.
