As part of the International Congress on Medieval Studies 2025 (taking place in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA), the call for papers for the “Medieval iberia in a connected world: the raw-materials record” session is open until September 15th, 2024.

This session aims to create space for methodological reflection through interdisciplinary exchange in areas as diverse as the Humanities and Experimental Natural Sciences. It will highlight the need to explore cross-cultural approaches for a more comprehensive understanding of the Medieval Iberian Peninsula.

The main objective of the call for papers is to receive proposals that contribute to understanding the Medieval Iberian Peninsula in a connected world, addressing the recording of raw materials.

The proposals must delve into issues related to short, medium, and long-distance trade and the subsequent use of these raw materials in the production of objects, artifacts, or constructions, as well as the meaning and symbolism that can be identified from them in visual and literary culture.

Submission of proposals must be made here.
