On the 7th of July, at 5 pm, another IEM Spin-Off Session will take place, dedicated to the theme: “A arqueologia empresarial e universidades. Um affair necessário? O Castelo de Santa Maria da Feira como case study.“. This session will be in charge of Pedro Sobral de Carvalho (Eon, Indústrias Criativas).
The third session of the Spin-Off of the Institute of Medieval Studies will enter the world of archeology. To this end, we invite Pedro Sobral de Carvalho, an archaeologist and specialist in the management of historical and archaeological heritage, and a pioneer in the creation of companies in the area. In this session, our guest, based on the case study of the Castle of Santa Maria da Feira, will talk about the relationship between business archeology and the university world and how both can complement each other to create scientific strategies and disseminate the heritage for diverse audiences.
Biographical Note: Pedro Sobral de Carvalho
Born in Viseu on April 16, 1963, he graduated in 1986 in History (a variant of Archaeology) from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra, having taken the Masters in Archeology in 1995 from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto. A specialist in megaliths, he has been involved in the business field since 1995, having started a new project, Eon, Indústrias Criativas, in 2011, where he has given special emphasis to the management of museography projects and the enhancement of archaeological sites and monuments. He created the tourism brand Neverending: Turismo Temático to develop programs for visiting historical and archaeological sites and monuments in Portugal. Author of various scientific articles and monographic works, he has focused on graphic media for the dissemination of heritage, always guided by the need to communicate to all audiences.
