João Luís Veloso successfully completed his PhD, with the public defence held on March 16 at NOVA FCSH.
Carried out within the framework of the Doctoral Programme in Medieval Studies (NOVA FCSH and Universidade Aberta), João Luís Álvares Veloso’s dissertation, entitled “Trade, Production and Consumption in the Early Middle Ages (400–1100): An Approach through the Archaeological Record of the City of Porto”, supervised by Professors Catarina Tente, Adolfo Fernández Fernández, and Maria João Branco, was awarded the highest distinction by the jury for its quality and innovation in addressing a challenging and highly relevant topic for a better understanding of the early medieval reality in Portugal in general, and in the city of Porto in particular.
This PhD was carried out under a Doctoral Research Fellowship awarded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) (UI/BD150927/2021).
