Tribute Colloquium “On the Centenary of the Birth of António Domingues de Sousa Costa: The Monastery of Grijó in the Middle Ages”

Born on 10 February 1926, António Domingues de Sousa Costa devoted his scholarly work to Portuguese medieval history and, above all, to ecclesiastical history. Over more than four decades, he worked extensively in Portuguese and foreign archives, with particular focus on the Vatican Apostolic Archive, identifying and transcribing tens of thousands of documents relating to Portugal.

This effort resulted in numerous publications, among which the Monumenta Portugaliae Vaticana stand out. This colloquium aims to pay tribute to this historian by fostering reflection and dialogue around the themes he cultivated.
